Kathleen Nichols County Board --- Proven, Effective Leadership . . . for the future of Dane County "Kathleen Nichols is a touchstone, a leader... she's the one people turn to..." -Sue Crowley "Kathleen gets the job done because she understands the politics of politics." "3 -Dick Wagner Chairperson of the Board Dane Co. Board of Supervisors "Kathleen is the outspoken defender of people whose voices often are ignored." -Ald. David Wallner "Kathleen worked with the workers to maintain union strength and integrity in Dane County." -Gretchen Lowe, Steward AFSCME, Local 720 Kathleen Nichols makes county government work for all the people of Dane County. Most Effective, Efficient Programs Dane County's programs for people with disabilities and chemical dependencies are the most effective and cost efficient in the nation. As chair of the Long Range Planning Committee of the Unified Services Board, Kathleen Nichols was an architect of these programs. Now, Kathleen will lead the same fight to improve services to kids, families, and the elderly. As chair of the Human Services Futures Committee, she is working to ensure the best care for our needy citizens as Dane County heads into the 1990s. Fairness, Equity, and the Right to Representation In the seesaw between Dane County's management and unions for control over workers' lives, the Dane County Board provides the balance. Supervisor Kathleen Nichols approaches this responsibility with fairness, equity, and workers' rights to representation always in mind. That is why she fought for and got basic benefits for minimum wage county workers. That is why she fought county management's unilat- eral efforts to remove certain workers from union protection. And that is why Kath- leen Nichols continues to fight for pay equity despite strong opposition. Decisive Leadership Too often these days county government seems to be run by comfortable, complacent officeholders willing to accept quick fixes to long-term problems. Supervisor Kathleen Nichols proves that doesn't have to be. She thinks the problem through seeking the best fix, not the quick one. Kathleen Nichols' decisive, outspoken leadership has kept Dane County moving forward. We need Kathleen Nichols' leadership now. . . and for the future of Dane County. --- Kathleen Nichols' Background and Experience: • Second District resident for 12 years • University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate • Three term County Supervisor Her Endorsements: • Dane County Women's Political Caucus • State Representative David Clarenbach • Alderman David Wallner Nichols County Board General Election, April 5 Authorized and Paid for by Committee to Re-elect Nichols, Barbara Constans, Treasurer. ---
