In addition to indicating scholarship the grades listed here also take
Into account progress, application, and earnestness.
Ratings:
"A" Excellent.
"B" Satisfactory.
"C" Poor but Passing.
"F" Fallure.
"A" and "B" are the only grades that assure admittance to all
standard colleges. "C" is a minimum grade accopted for promotion
and credit. "F" is fallure.
Poor grades usually indicate one of three things: (1) the pupil is
not putting forth an earnest effort; (2) he has not been thorough in his
earlier school work, or (3) he is taking subjects which, probably, he
could never master.

This report card will be sent to the home at close of each perlod
of six weeks. Parents or guardians are urged to examine it carefully,
sign and return it immediately to school. Your signature does not mean
that you approve or disapprove, but it is evidence that the home has
been informed of the progress the pupil is making in school.
In case of absence or tardiness pupils are required to provide the
school with a written statement, signed by parent or guardian, explain-
ing cause of absence or tardiness.
It is important that children attend school regularly, reporting each
day on time.
The laws of Tennessee make attendance at school compulsory be-
tween the ages of seven and sixteen, Inclusive.
Parents are urged to give Immediate attention to low marks in
either scholarship or citizenship. Some definite plan for Improvement
should be reached after having a conference with the principal.
Our schools cannot function properly without a sympathetic under-
standing on the part of the home.

CITIZENSHIP
Education for good citizenship must be the chlef aim and end of
our public schools. The training of boys and girls to be good citizens
is not so much a matter of teaching them the facts as it is a matter
of bringing forth within them an ablding understanding of the duties
which good citizenship imposes upon them. The ratings below represent
an earnest effort on the part of the school to indicate the relative
standing of the Individual pupil as determined by four basic elements
of good citizenship.
Ratings: E, Excellent; G, Good; F, Fair; P, Poor.
Promptness: Reports to school
and classes on time. Prompt in
meeting all other school responsi-
bilities.
Industry: Earnestly approaches
difficult tasks; sustained effort de-
termined to succeed.
Courtesy: Attentive when others
are speaking; respects the rights
and feelings of others.
Co-operation: Willingly shares
group responsibilities; sacrifices
