December 29, 1975 State Representative David E. Clarenbach 112 North State Capitol Madison, Wisconsin 53702 Dear David: Thanks for your letter of December 15. Your information on Assembly Bill 139 will be put to constructive use. We should discuss strategy on Senate Bill 14. I 11 contact you at the beginning of the year if I am in town, prior to holding a hearing on this measure. Liberals from the Law School and the Legislative Council still feel the bill should be passed in its present form, unamended; otherwise, it will die. I do not consider it alive in light of the present law and palpable injustices to heterosexuals and homosexuals alike. Best wishes for a Happy New Year. LAB:rs Justice for all, LLOYD A. Cannon Consulting Engineer 2515 Gmeiner Road Appleton, Wisconsin 54911 Dear Mr. Cannon: Some time ago you inquired about what's happening to efforts to enact new Wisconsin laws relative to private consensual sexual acts. No satisfactory changes have occurred. However, it is my intention to reintroduce all of the legislative changes presented to the legislature during the last session. This re-introduction will take place after we recon- vene January 7, 1975. LAB:rs Justice for all, LLOYD A. I am enclosing a copy of Assembly Bill 269 which was introduced into the 1975 Assembly by me and Repre- sentative Clarenbach. The bill did not pass this session of the Legislature. No doubt, a similar measure will be introduced during the next session. Very truly yours, LAB:rs ENC. LLOYD A. BARBEE State Representative Chairman, Assembly Judiciary Committee --- April 4, 1974 Ms. Jo Ann Dale 918 East 48 1/2 Street Austin, Texas, 78751 Dear Ms. Dale: Some time ago you wrote me regarding an assembly bill which I introduced which would permit marriage between persons of the same sex. On January 23, 1973 I introduced Assembly -Bill 185 which would provide for this. However, the bill was killed on October 26, 1973. A public hearing was held prior to this on June 25, 1973. Thank you for your interest in this proposed legislation. I am sending you a copy of the bill. Very truly yours, LAB:13 LLOYD A. BARBEE State Representative --- Rymally October 14, 1976 The Honorable Mervyn M. Dymally Lieutenant Governor State Capitol Sacramento, California 95814 The Honorable George L. Brown Lieutenant Governor State Capitol Denver, Colorado 80218 Dear Brother Black Elected Officials: I hope you both exceed your present heights to an office which you desire. In response to your letter concerning harassments, the survey form was either misplaced or not attached. However, I submit the following: (1) I have received hate mail ranging from expressions of disagreement to threats of murder, castration or suggestions that I end my life because of some bigots' disagreement with my positions on racial justice, civil rights, the right to die, the rights of people to have sex between consenting parties, as well as my 16-year old public battle for integrated/quality education. (2) Harassing telephone calls have been delivered, not only to me, but to my children, ranging from disagreements over mass media coverage of my views as well as TV and radio appear- ances bo threats of bombing my home or ass 088- ination by hand gun or rifle. ---
